Chapter 12
This chapter touched on the fact that negotiaton surrounds us all on a daily bases. Some people may be born negotiators, but negotiation is a skill that must be practiced. Ten best practices are: Be prepared; Diagnose the fundamental structure of the negotiation; Identify and work the BATNA; Be willing to walk away; Master paradoxes; Remember the intangables; Actively manage coalitions; Savor and protect your reputation; Remember that rationality and fairness are relative; and Continue to learn from the experience.

This chapter went over multi party discussions. This means that more than two negotiators are negotiating as well. Each negotiator has their own interests in mind and the group must arrive at collective decisions. The must agree upon a course of action, a plan, and numerous more.

In this chapter the way that present relationships exist was sought after. Many negotiations that where about business, law, government, communities, and international affairs allowed the parties to have present and future relationships.In relationships alot of the time there is a concern of trust on both parties. In relationships there are many arguements or maybe few. One possitive aspect is that everyones interest is sought after.

In this chapter factors that negotiators consider when they decide their tactics are deceptive or maybe unethical. When using these tactics the negotiator needs to ask themselves if the ose tactics will enhance their power and help to achieve the objective, how will those tactics affect the quality of your relatonship with the other party, and how will the tactics affect my reputation as a negotiator. It important as a negotiator to not over look all of these negative possibilities.

In this chapter the power of negotiation was discussed. There are two major ways to think about power:"power overe", ehich suggests that power is dominating and coercive in nature. The "power with", suggests that power is jointly shared with the other party to collectively develop joint goals and objectives. There are five sources of power: Informal sources, personal sources, position based sources, Relationship based, and contextual sources.
Negotiation Chapter 7 (7-12)
This chapter discussed what is communicated during negotiations. Rather than being just an exchange of solutions, negotiations covers a wide range of numerous topics in an environment where each party is trying to influence another party.This is carried out by the the usage of language, non verbal communication, and the selection of a communication channel.
