Leadership Chapter 1 Summary

Developing Leadership Communication Strategy

To become an effective leader you must first establish your clear communication skills. You begin with three general purposes. One is to inform, two is to persuade, and three is to instruct. Most leadership is communication is action oriented. Once you have a purpose you might want to come up with other ideas to express the purpose so that it is clear to your audience. You can use methods such as brainstorming, and idea mapping. Next, you then want to develop a strategy for communicating. You will need to consider the framework and its parts, which are messages, media/forum, timing, and the spokesperson. Remember to ask the questions who, what, why, when, and how.
